While on a business trip in Colorado I suffered a severe and painful electrical shock from a wall outlet in the bathroom at the Sheraton Hotel. It was a horrific and painful experience. However, in my stupor I remembered that I have the 24-hour Nurse Triage Service. I made a call to the service explaining my condition to see if they could assist me. The nurse, without any hesitation, alerted the hotel staff to assist me, although the staff was not concerned earlier. That nurse also had medical assistance on the way by use of the local 911 system. I was surrounded by people in less than eight minutes of my call. I was astounded that help had arrived in my room while nurses continued to assist me on the phone. I truly believe the call to the call center saved my life.

This past summer, a yellow jacket sting caused my leg to swell and rashes and hives to appear. I called the Nurse Advice Line who strongly suggested I see a doctor immediately.
